chili + cheeseburger + rootbeer float = Mississippi does serve a purpose.
This Mississippi burger joint needs to rethink their marketing.... they won't franchise outside of the state... what the eff!

Ward's is a must while in Mississippi.
For lots of people in the area, Ward's has become somewhat of a family tradition. Big shoutout to the chili cheeseburgers and the root beer floats. This is a local traditional favorite. It's really between a three and four stars for me, but I'd have to lean towards three due to the outdated interior. Three stars means I'd go without complaining, but it wouldn't be my idea to go.
I'd still scarf down the chili cheeseburgers and root beer float for nostalgia purposes, though. -

I was wanting to share a childhood favorite tonight so I ordered a couple Big ones, two chili cheese dogs, Fry's and of course the homemade root beer.
I came in about 30 minutes before close which may have been my mistake but the big ones which are chili cheese burgers where room temperature and was very lackluster compared to the ones I used to get as a kid. The chili dogs was room temperature and and pretty below-par in Flavour. The one thing that was still on point was the root beer, which I believe is made in house. So lesson learned next time I'm in town and want to reminisce I will just stick with getting a root beer float and call it a day. -

Grew up coming to this restaurant! Good burgers and root beer. I normally get the Big One combo. They only have this chain in Alabama and Mississippi I believe. But if you're ever passing through Hattiesburg stop by! There maybe 3 in town. One on 49, 98, and Hardy St.

In over 30 years of Wards I've never been disappointed. This was the only fast food place in Livingston Alabama when I was a little girl and remains my favorite to date. If you're every here make sure to try the Big One, the homemade root beer float, and the chili cheese dog. It will change your life.
